The NHL Draft is an annual event in which each of the thirty NHL teams selects a certain number of amateur players from around the world. The first ever NHL Entry Draft was held on June 5, 1963, and it has been held every year since. The most recent draft was the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, which was held on October 6-7, 2020.

The National Hockey League Entry Draft is an annual meeting in which every franchise of the National Hockey League systematically select the rights to available ice hockey players who have been assessed as eligible to be drafted. The NHL Entry Draft is held once every year, generally within two to three months after the conclusion of the previous season. During the draft, teams take turns selecting amateur players from junior, collegiate, or European leagues.
The NHL Free Agency
The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Free Agency period begins on July 1st of every year.
During this time, players who are not under contract with an NHL team become free agents and are free to sign with any NHL team. This period usually lasts around 10 days, during which time many players sign new contracts with their current teams or with other NHL teams.
The NHL Trade Deadline
The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching and teams are scrambling to make moves to improve their rosters for the playoffs. With so much at stake, it’s important to know when the NHL playoffs start.
The NHL playoffs are scheduled to begin on April 11, 2018. However, the exact schedule has not been released yet. We will update this page as soon as the schedule is released.
So far, there have been some interesting trades made by teams around the league. The most notable trade was the Tampa Bay Lightning acquiring Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller from the New York Rangers in exchange for Vladislav Namestnikov, Brett Howden, Libor Hajek, a first round draft pick, and a conditional second round draft pick.
